2012-2013 Ford Fiesta in recall due to fire concern
If you own a Ford Fiesta that was built from 01/01/2012 to 29/08/2013, then you need to be made aware of a recall that was announced a few days ago.
It would seem there is a risk of fire with 41,355 units, which is a large number, and so you might wish to contact your local Ford dealer if you have concerns and do not wish to wait for them to contact you.
So what’s the reason behind this new Ford Fiesta recall? It would seem that in wet conditions the Glow Plug Control Module (GPCM) can be affected. The reason being is due to it not being waterproof, and so water can find its way into the module itself. If this were to happen, then it could overheat, and so increasing the risk of fire.
The fix is for Ford to replace the Glow Plug Control Module on those models with Vehicle ID WF0DXXGAKDCY22196 to WF0JXXGAJJCD27508.
