2016 Mercedes SLK steering recall with these ID numbers
We thought you may need a gentle reminder to check to make certain that your 2016 Mercedes-Benz SLK is not involved in the latest recall for that model in the UK, which was announced a little earlier this month.
Affected Mercedes SLK model ID numbers – If you own one of these vehicles built between 01/01/2016 to 31/03/2016 and their vehicle identity numbers are WDD1724042F124128 to WDD1724752F125570, then chances are you have an affected model.
The reason behind the recall is because the steering efficiency may be reduced because the rear suspension tie rod lock nut may not have been tightened to the correct specification. If this is the case, then the component will not act as it should, and could even become disconnected because it could work its way loose.
The fix is a simple one, as the lock nuts need to be replaced and then tightened to the correct manufactures specification.
