Vauxhall Astra Mark 6 problems and answers to fix them

The Sixth generation Vauxhall Astra was built from 2009 to 2015 and in that time proved to be one of the more popular models because of the changes over the fifth-gen model. While this was regarded as a very popular model, it did not come without its issues, and over the years there has been a wide variety of problems.

We have created this Vauxhall Astra Mark 6 problems page in the hope that the Car Recall community can work with each other in the hope of finding answers to fix them.

Some of the most common faults with the Vauxhall Astra MK 6 are automatic gearbox, twin top roof, starting and engine management light problems. Along with annoying kicking noises, cooling fan staying on too long, along with the car cutting out and knocking noise when pulling away.

We are sure some of you out there have an answer to this, and so please feel free to add your issues and solutions in the comments section below please.

There are times when the automatic windscreen wipers take a while to turn on while it’s spitting with rain. I have made certain the area around the sensor is clean, so does anyone have ideas?

One of the biggest issues I find is with the automatic gearbox, as it often stays in a low gear down hill, and so sounds like you are a learner driver.
