VW recalls start in January, fixed by end of 2016
Looking at the latest VW diesel scandal updates, we can report that the Volkswagen recalls are to being in January of next year, and that all fixes are expected to be completed by the end of 2016. This is only for the EA189 engine, and it has now been proven that Euro 5 and Euro 6 EA288 are not affected like first assumed.
We still do not know how they intend to fix the issue, and if there will be any sort of compensation, although that latter part looks unlikely, unless the German carmaker is forced to do so. As far as we know for now, it will take a software fix, but we are not sure what that will do to the fuel efficiency.
VW is to recall 1.2 million vehicles in the UK alone, but only those fitted with the EA189 EU5 diesel engines, which are 1.2-litre, 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre variants. Got an issue with your VW, then please share it with the community to see if they are able to resolve it for you.
